The point of the file is fair for cleaning fingernails. it is a bit too wide ( on edge ) for short nails but works very well for longer nails. The scissors have a problem with the screw working loose and a very small screwdriver is needed to re-tighten it...or...if you try to use a fingernail, then you will be using the file to smooth out the damage. I also noticed that the spring between the short handles tended to bend off to the side when pressure was not evenly applied or when the screw became loose. The scissors worked well for cutting out small ads in magazines or papers, or for cutting the occasional thread here and there.
