Announce Recall of Snowmen Holiday Lamps WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announces the following recall in voluntary cooperation with the firm below. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. Name of product: Snowmen Holiday Lamps Units: 1,900 Importer: Great Gifts Inc., McKeesport, Pa. Hazard: These electric holiday lamps have undersized wiring, no strain relief on the electric cords, and the molded plastic enclosure is flammable. The lamps pose fire and electrocution hazards. Incidents/Injuries: None reported. Description: There are three styles of snowmen lamps included in the recall. The Turbo 1541 model is a train with a snowman and light with Joyful written on the top. The model 1536A consists of three snowmen with a light in a campfire. Model 1628 is three snowmen with a choir book and light. Each holiday light has the model number listed on its base with the label Made in China for Great Gifts McKeesport PA 15132. Sold at: Small gift stores nationwide from October 2003 through December 2003 for about $10. Manufactured in: U.S.A. and China Remedy: Stop using these lamps, and contact the firm to get information on returning them and receiving a refund. Outright gifts of marketable securities for current operations or endowments can be made in several ways: If the donor has a broker, the donor should advise the broker that he or she wants to make a gift to The University. Preferably, this request should be in the form of a letter, containing the following information: The name of the stock; The number of shares; The donor's name and address; and What the stock will be used for. The stock gift will actually be made to the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System for the use and benefit of The University of Texas at Austin. The donor's letter should tell the specific use/purpose for the gift. In the letter to the broker, it is advisable for the donor to copy the Engineering Foundation at: College of Engineering UT Austin ECJ 10.324 Austin, TX 78712 The donor's letter should instruct the broker to call the UT System Office of Estates and Trusts at (512) 499-4346 for instructions to transfer the stock. If the donor does not have a broker, the unendorsed stock certificate should be sent via Federal Express, or similar guaranteed overnight delivery service, to: Ms. Bernice Croft The University of Texas Development Office Campus Mail Code: F1000 Austin, TX 78712 Additionally, the donor should sign a Stock Power, in blank, identical to the way the name is listed on the stock certificate. The Stock Power should be sent separately in the same manner to the address above. It is stressed that the Stock Power should be signed in blank; for example, the name of the transferee should not be entered on the Stock Power. This allows the Board of Regents to sell the stock immediately upon receipt; thus, quickly locking in a sales price for the gift. If the donor does not have a Stock Power, The University can provide one. Once the signed Stock Power and the stock certificates are in the UT System Office, the gift can be processed. Not only does Tim's book disclose the keys to a woman's happiness, it is the genuine tool for unlocking it with an ever-so-easy click. The book begins with the quote: "A man who knows what women want rules the world." - Nick Marshall This first quote of many accurately reflects the intention of this book. Continual studies concur that the happiest relationships, right or wrong, are those in which the woman is happy and fulfilled. There are some common guidelines in the book that apply to every woman regardless of her individual preferences and needs. Important chapters include "The 20 Biggest Gift-Giving Mistakes Men Make", "It's not about the money or the number of gifts, or is it?" and two chapters detailing in-depth, women's stories about the worst and best gifts they have ever received. Many of the best gifts, as pointed out in the book, were not the most expensive or glittery. They were often romantic gifts that were well thought out, affordable, considerate and timely. Many of the collective complaints about gifts from men to women are that the men often don't remember important dates, don't pay attention to the nuances of a woman's life and don't know what she prefers most or cares for the least. The Male Gift Giving Survival Guide covers all three bases. The book features an extensive diary prompting men to record important dates, what makes her happy or feel loved, favorite colors, dress and jewelry sizes, travel destinations, food, restaurants, activities, etc. Guys can fill out this diary as their relationship with a woman progresses and consult it regularly for help choosing the perfect gift. Overall, I found this book to be an amusing and accurate portrayal of the importance of gifts in the life of a woman. Every male over the age of twelve who reads and follows this book will certainly reflect the female appreciation of his genius in the smile he wears on his face.
