Her mom picked me up at six. She had a neighbor, Talon, who lived about four houses down the street. Talon called my cell around midnight. All three of us were good friends. I ran into the bathroom upstairs and answered it. He told me to pretend to be tired, and then once JoAnne fell asleep, I was to walk to his house because he and Mitchell, his friend, had presents for me. So, around 12:30 in the morning, I walked down the street. His room was in the basement, so I knocked there. Mitchell came out wearing only his boxers. I was in a tight, black, tank top and guy's boxer shorts. I walked through the family room to Talon's room. Talon came downstairs in boxers and said, "Oh, I forgot your present upstairs." So, he turned around and walked back upstairs. I sat on Talon's bed and Mitchell came over. He gave me priceless diamond earrings and asked me to be his girlfriend. I said yes. He came over and sat next to me. We made out for almost an hour until he tried to have sex with me. "No," I said. He walked down the hall. I peered through the doorway to see him grabbing a condom, and then he came back to Talon's room. It was 1:30 then. We had sex for three hours until I said we should stop. Talon came back downstairs a few minutes later. He explained that he was hung over from yesterday and had fallen asleep on the couch upstairs. I now know the whole thing was a setup because yesterday JoAnne and I had hung out with him. He gave me a beautiful necklace with a ruby colored flip-flop on it. I asked if someone could walk with me up the street because it was so dark out and I was scared. Surprisingly, Talon volunteered. So, we walked back up to JoAnne's house. I sat down on JoAnne's swing because I was putting my new earrings and necklace on. Talon sat down next to me and we started to kiss. He ran his arm up and down my chest. I pushed away and told him that Mitchell and I were going out now and asked if we could still be friends. He said yes and walked me to the door. We hugged, and I gave him a quick kiss on the mouth because I felt bad for him. I waved goodbye. When I walked downstairs to where JoAnne was, she was standing up with her arms crossed and tapping her foot. She asked where I had been. She had never fallen asleep but only faked as though she had. So, I told her the whole story. They are usually full of love and joy and you get to look at lots of cute baby clothes. I also love to give baby shower gifts. I think it's a lot of fun to put together something special for every new little one.
Sometimes I go and pick out things from a gift registry that I think the mother will enjoy or something that has made my days as a mother easier or more interesting. Though my favorite thing to do is to make something for the new baby. Here are a couple of ideas for quick and easy gifts for mom and baby, regardless of the sex of the baby or the theme of the shower!
Gift Basket
I usually choose a large, hollow item to fill with little things. A diaper pail or an infant bath tub are inexpensive and work very nicely. If you're looking for something smaller, try a bathroom bucket/caddy. It's also great for carrying the baby's small bath items around.
You can stick with the bath theme and fill it with bath items. Here are some examples:
Soap
Lotion
Towels
Rubber Duck (with or without thermometer)
Wash cloths
Brush and Comb
Some people prefer the health and safety approach for this gift. Some ideas for that category include:

You really don't have to spend very much on these gifts, most are a dollar or two each. You can also find some nice, but inexpensive baby toys at dollar stores everywhere, including bibs!
If you don't have a large hollow tub or bucket you can also do a fancy party bag. Some people choose to individually wrap each gift, while attractive it can take a long time. I always put tissue on the top and let mom sort through as quickly as she likes.
Diaper Cake
This item is for those who are a bit more talented, though with practice it shouldn't be too difficult! The results are a delighful looking "cake" made of diapers and toys.
Items you will need:
Diapers (large pack of disposables or 12 cloth)
Cardboard (Some choose to use a bottle of infant laundry soap.)
Small gifts (rattles, toys, teethers, brush, etc.)
Clear Tape or Rubber Bands
Ribbons
Cake "Topper" (Usually a small stuffed animal, can be left off.)
Directions: Use the cardboard or laundry soap as a base, wrap diapers around it to form a bottom cake "layer."
You can secure the diapers with tape or rubber bands. Start a second "layer" making it smaller than the first. You can do as many layers as you would like, I've only done two, but I have seen three done.
When you're done with that you can take your smaller items and tie them up with ribbon and tuck them into the layers of the diaper folds, making them appear as if they are a part of the cake. If you'd like secure a small stuffed animal on top of the cake as a topper.
This makes a great gift as well as a center piece for a shower. It was a lot of fun to do, but it took two people to make it look right.
