FREE Newsletter. Sign Up Now! Fun and easy shower gifts to make! Baby showers are probably my favorite event to attend. They are usually full of love and joy and you get to look at lots of cute baby clothes. I also love to give baby shower gifts. I think it's a lot of fun to put together something special for every new little one.
Sometimes I go and pick out things from a gift registry that I think the mother will enjoy or something that has made my days as a mother easier or more interesting. Though my favorite thing to do is to make something for the new baby. Here are a couple of ideas for quick and easy gifts for mom and baby, regardless of the sex of the baby or the theme of the shower!
Gift Basket
I usually choose a large, hollow item to fill with little things. A diaper pail or an infant bath tub are inexpensive and work very nicely. If you're looking for something smaller, try a bathroom bucket/caddy. It's also great for carrying the baby's small bath items around.
You can stick with the bath theme and fill it with bath items. Here are some examples:
Soap
Lotion
Towels
Rubber Duck (with or without thermometer)
Wash cloths
Brush and Comb
Some people prefer the health and safety approach for this gift. Some ideas for that category include:
Thermometer
First Aid Kit
Electrical Plug Covers
Finger Nail Clippers
Emergency Aid Cards
Child Proofing Book
Door Locks
Diaper Cream
Infant Fever Reducer
I also have days where eceltic is my style. Here are some other gift items that go well in these types of gifts:

You really don't have to spend very much on these gifts, most are a dollar or two each. You can also find some nice, but inexpensive baby toys at dollar stores everywhere, including bibs!
If you don't have a large hollow tub or bucket you can also do a fancy party bag. Some people choose to individually wrap each gift, while attractive it can take a long time. I always put tissue on the top and let mom sort through as quickly as she likes.
Diaper Cake
This item is for those who are a bit more talented, though with practice it shouldn't be too difficult! The results are a delighful looking "cake" made of diapers and toys.
Items you will need:
Diapers (large pack of disposables or 12 cloth)
Cardboard (Some choose to use a bottle of infant laundry soap.)
Small gifts (rattles, toys, teethers, brush, etc.)
Clear Tape or Rubber Bands
Ribbons
Cake "Topper" (Usually a small stuffed animal, can be left off.)
Directions: Use the cardboard or laundry soap as a base, wrap diapers around it to form a bottom cake "layer."
You can secure the diapers with tape or rubber bands. Start a second "layer" making it smaller than the first. You can do as many layers as you would like, I've only done two, but I have seen three done.
When you're done with that you can take your smaller items and tie them up with ribbon and tuck them into the layers of the diaper folds, making them appear as if they are a part of the cake. If you'd like secure a small stuffed animal on top of the cake as a topper.
This makes a great gift as well as a center piece for a shower. It was a lot of fun to do, but it took two people to make it look right.

She demonstrates how to make custom gift wrap and how to use ordinary household items such as bubble wrap, newspapers and more. Gift for a child Use old newspapers for this one. The comic section would be a perfect choice for any child. Wrap the box, then from a variety of colored pieces of construction paper, cut out some figures or designs. (One suggestion would be to trace the child's hand onto the construction paper.) Glue the construction-paper designs onto the package. A great way to top the package is to take some packing-foam peanuts, thread with colored wire and twist into any shape desired. Adorn the package with this foam-peanut creation, and children will love it. Bubble-wrap gift Who doesn't enjoy bubble wrap? Then why not use it to decorate a package. Wrap the package with tissue paper first, then apply the bubble wrap (smooth side down) with clear glue on the package. Secure the bubble wrap tightly by using tape if necessary. Decorate the package with cutout designs, placing them between the bubble wrap and the tissue paper. Wrap for odd-shape gifts For those hard-to-wrap gifts that don't have a box, consider using scarves. Place whatever you're wrapping in the center of the scarf, take two corners and tie them together and take the other two corners and tie as well. The recipient will have a gift and a scarf as an added bonus. Pieces of material (silk or whatever) can be used if a scarf is not available.
