I purchased several other "how to" start a gift-basket business books and this is by far the most comprehensive instruction book. Frazier assumes her readership base is educated and has considered all of the common sense factors regarding the start-up phase of a gift basket business. The appendix lists several valuable sources such as trade shows, magazines, and wholesale product suppliers. I also read Prentice Hall's "Start Your Own Gift Basket Business" . . . this was a complete waste of money. Best bet is Frazier's book along with her "Gift Basket Design Book". -Roxanne Ocampo Was this review helpful to you? This book focuses on that important fact. Any business that deals with a product to a customer should have insurance. Some people may choose this business because they think that it is inexpensive and easy to sell your product, and yes it can be that if you work hard at it but the business information presented in this book is what will help save you from yourself and lack of knowledge about running a business. While it may seem improbable that someone could sue you for food poisoning because a product you sold them made them sick, it becomes very real when you are about to lose your house and all your possessions because you were not insured. Small business insurance is probably the most important thing that someone should have if they are a sole propiertorship. This may not be good news to someone who is looking to start a business on a limited budget but it a necessity. I was impressed with all the business information that was included in this book because a lot of home based business books skip over that section and instead focus on the product. If you have the idea than you already have the product, the rest is implementation. Get this book if you have ideas but not aware of how to run a business. Was this review helpful to you? It is such an easy read and it really takes you step by step on how to start in this business. I began reading it not to long ago, and I can't wait to start my business. Was this review helpful to you? ( Report this ) 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful: Absolutely Fabulous - a MUST HAVE! , February 12, 2004 Reviewer: Sara Wilson (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews This book is by far the best handbook written about running a gift basket business. I've owned a gift basket business for one year and was looking for new marketing ideas, so I purchased several gift basket business books from Amazon. This book stood out from the rest because it includes TONS of marketing ideas and tells you who to contact at various types of businesses/potential markets. I am really impressed! The ideas in this book really work and have encouraged me to get even more organized and focused in my marketing. If you are interested in learning more about my gift basket company, go to www.BasketAct.com. I strongly suggest this book for any and all gift basket makers, whether they've been in the business for years or are just starting out. Was this review helpful to you? The book gives you ideas and a methodology to follow to start and set up your own gift basket business. This book is great because it details things to check out to protect yourself legally such as health food regulations and permits that you may require. I would have never thought of these things myself since all i focus on is creating my gift baskets Many people are very passionate about the creative side of gift baskets, however it is the business side that gets your great gift baskets to the customers hands and this book tells you how to do it. It does go through the basics of putting together a gift basket with black and white hand drawn pictures. It may be disappointing to people looking how to create unusual gift baskets or ideas for new gift baskets - but as it states on the title "gift basket BUSINESS". Was this review helpful to you? ( Report this ) 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: I was dissapointed... , January 5, 2004 Reviewer: A reader I was really excited to get this book; but I found that it was really not for beginners. She talks about getting attorneys accountants employees, etc, etc, while skipping the part of how you actually get up to the point where you can actually afford to do that. I found the information very generalized, and somewhat ellusive. I got this book, because I wanted to know how to start a gift-basket business. Yet the information seemed to skirt around the topic rather than addressing it head on. This book seems best suited to someone who has ran a business before, has a degree in business, or has abundant financial resources to tap in on. I was not impressed with it. I wish I had bought a different book on the same topic. Thanks. Was this review helpful to you? ( Report this ) See all 35 customer reviews... Listmania! creative gift hampers. Giving
Creative gift ideas for Christmas Creative gift ideas for Christmas Creative suggestions for Christmas gift ideas and how to build your own creative gift hampers. Giving gifts is one of the great joys of the Christmas season, however buying and deciding what to give your loved ones and friends can often be hard. Sometimes the best gifts and the most cherished ones, are not the ones that have cost a great deal of money but rather are the ones that have had a little more thought put into them or have been made especially for them by the gift giver. Making your Christmas gifts yourself can be very pleasurable and also can work out more cost effective. You could knit, sew, build, paint or sculpt presents to suit the people you intend to give them to. Understandably not everyone has the patience, the skills or even the time to do these things. Just about anyone though can use his or her imagination and put together an original gift for someone. A great idea is to make a hamper or basket of “goodies” for a gift. Hampers don’t have to be the traditional food hampers but rather could contain anything. Choose the contents to suit the person. For example for a sewing enthusiast, you could make a hamper consisting of sewing essentials such as pins, needles, fabric, tape measure and so on. For a cooking enthusiast you could put together a hamper of all sorts of ingredients and perhaps even throw in a recipe book or a few of your favorite recipes. You could even make a hamper of the practical essentials we all need such as toothpaste, tissues, socks etc. Flower and plant hampers are another great idea. In these you could add the persons favorite dried flowers or potpourri and maybe some different packets of seeds. You can also make hampers for children. The things you could put in these could be the likes of games, toys, pencils, candy and different little nick knacks or stocking fillers that your children may like. Children love getting surprises and enjoy getting lots of little gifts so these kind of hampers work really well for them. When putting together your hampers, try to consider the things that the recipient would like, and add such things to the hamper. Your hampers don’t even necessarily need to follow a theme. Sometimes just lots of little things and odd arrangements of samples work just as well. This is often fun for the person to receive, not to mention fun for you to put together. Be creative in what you put all the “goodies” into too. When we think of hampers, we tend to think of baskets but you could use just about anything. Boxes are a great alternative to baskets, or you could use something that maybe fits in with the theme of your hamper. For instance, if you were making a hamper with a sporting theme, you could use a sport bag or even put it all into a sport hat! Your options are endless and the only limits will be your imagination. Think different and unusual and have fun putting together you gifts. You will enjoy it and the person receiving the gift will appreciate your effort and enjoy it too. © 2002 Pagewise You are here: Essortment Home >> People & Culture >> Holidays:Crafts >> Creative gift ideas for Christmas << Christmas candles Make heirloom quilted Christmas stockings >>

On newstands today BirdieBall by Birdie Ball Inc. is the best golf training aid invented this century! That's a bold statement, but golf coaches and PGA golf instructors around the world agree, and have voted it the PGA, Product of the Year for 2005! It is a limited flight practice golf ball without limited feel. True feel with a long hang time, golf ball-like, trajectory! But it only flies 40 yards, so you have your own backyard driving range. Take a full swing. Draw it Fade it. Grab a buddy, get 40 yards apart and hit them back and forth. You wont believe the turbine sound created by the high rate of reverse spin. It's very durable, in fact the Pro Series wont break like other perforated practice balls or wiffleballs. Use the StrikePad to simulate taking a divot. It is a cambered polymer pad designed to replace conventional golf mats and turf pads. The cambered surface of the StrikePad creates an air cushion at impact. The Strike Pad will not grab the club. This protects your leading elbow by reducing jarring that happens when hitting off of other golf pads. The StrikePad deflects down at impact and follow through, and then rebounds back in the blink of an eye. In addition to being an incredible training aid, the BirdieBall is just plain fun. The 2004 PGA Merchandise Show marked the Birdie Balls introduction to the golf world. Adam Barr, Business Analyst with the Golf Channel, featured the "eyebrow raiser" to open the show. By the end of the show the BirdieBall had won one of the 2004 product of the year awards! Mark Murphy with Golf Digest's Golf World writes in the February 6th 2004 edition that odds are good that the Birdie Ball Inc will be successful. We know that you will agree. Chipping in Small Areas The feel one develops by chipping the BirdieBall in small confined areas is one of the BirdieBalls most incredible features. Although the BirdieBall is awesome for practicing a full swing it may be best when used indoors or in very small outdoor areas. Unlike all other off-course golf ball like devices the BirdieBall has rebound. When chipping a golf ball the feel of the ball on the club and the associated rebound are key to understanding how far your shot will travel. Further, lofting and de-lofting the golf club creates different feel and spin on the ball. The BirdieBall feels and spins like a golf ball as well in the chipping realm as in the full swing realm. Further, when using the BirdieBall with a very lofted club (pitching wedge) inside of its maximum 40-60 yard range the comparable distance is very similar to an actual golf ball. Lets take a quarter swing pitching wedge for example. I would expect a quarter swing pitching wedge to travel about 20 to 25 yards on a golf course. A quarter swing pitching wedge with BirdieBall will travel a comparable distance. A short chipping move with a straight left side and no wrist break would be equal to chipping a golf ball into a high back chair from short range, about ten feet. I practice chipping BirdieBalls into my chair at my office. It is the same exact move and feel. The reason it works so well is because the less we compress either a golf ball or BirdieBall the more they feel, fly and spin like one another. When I travel, I travel with about a dozen BirdieBalls and a collapsible pitching wedge (for sale right here). When bored in the hotel room, I will chip BirdieBalls into the heavy curtain covering the sliding doors. I put a trash can under my target area and watch the BirdieBalls slide down the pleat right into the hotels trash can. Hows that for downtime target practice! Hitting Driver One of the questions we get all of the time is; I can see where practicing irons and fairway woods would be great, but, can I hit Driver? Absolutely, we will soon be packaging all BirdieBalls with a BirdieBall tee (coming soon). Until then, there are a couple of different ways to elevate the BirdieBall so that you can take the big cut with the big 460cc Bang-O-Matic. First you can stack one BirdieBall on top of another. Hit the top one off of the bottom one. Second, take a kitchen sponge, cut it in half, stack it up and hang the BirdieBall off of one side. You can also hang it off of the edge of the Tee Up Area on the StrikePad. Awesome! BirdieBall as a Golf Gift BirdieBall may be the best golf gift that you can give a golfer. Regardless of whether the golfer is a low handicapper or simply a beginner this golf gift is truly right on the mark. Golf gifts are hard to choose because the golf gift often has to fit, in the world of golf gifts this is one size fits all levels of golfer. Further, golf gifts are hard to choose because you dont want to by the golfer something that the golfer already has. This gift has been getting rave reviews all over the world for the last couple of years. Recently the StrikePad has been improved to include an illustrated swing plane which helps the beginner understand the fundamental inside to outside swing path. Low handicappers use the pad as a surface from which they can practice the down and through motion without tearing up the lawn. BirdieBall Golf Tips In this web site we have a page dedicated to golf tips. The golf swing is complicated. We believe that there are really only five golf tips that you need to remember. The first tip is a golf tip on the golf grip; the second golf tip is a tip on the golf club takeaway, the Y to L position. The third tip is a golf tip with regard to the position of the golf club at the top of the swing along with the inside to outside motion of the golf club on the downswing. The fourth golf tip is the importance of club head rotation through the hitting zone. The fifth and final tip is a tip on the down and through motion when using your irons. Please visit these golf tips on-line. You can visit the Golf Tips section by clicking now. Just place your cursor over this section. These golf tips are free. Here is another golf tip: Practice with BirdieBallsthat is the best golf tip any golf tips reference could give you. P.S. The BirdieBall is also great for corporate logos.
